![]() ![]() The Pixel 2 XL is very appealing, but every time I think about it, I can't help but be aware of all that I'd be giving up. If you're on a yearly upgrade plan, not a problem at all. You'll get decent support for a year, then LG will forget about with the release of the V40 and updates will probably come even slower. The V30 won't have long term support like the Pixel will. Everything the V30 can do cannot be done by the Pixel. Also have front facing speakers if that matters to you.Īnything the Pixel can do, the V30 can do. The Pixel will get updates, get them faster, and probably be a faster phone overall. And will likely drop in price or have sales. I think the V30 is the more complete package. Touchwiz is laggy af, and she's having to restart her phone every other day. My SO has the S8+, and it truly pales in comparison to the v30. LG is also offering a free 2nd year manufacturers warranty, which is definitely a plus. I figure that once LG gets Oreo, a lot of the bugs will be worked out and it'll be a little more flawless of a rollout. We'll get them eventually, and that was one of my biggest arguments for getting the Pixel 2 XL, but realistically, Android updates between versions aren't as huge as they used to be, and are very much more incremental. It's very slim fitting and minimalistic, and provides just enough texture to not be so slippery that I'm afraid I'm going to drop it all the time. Personally, I couldn't recommend this case enough. I got a good TPU Bumber case with a clear back to show it off. The glass backing is really slippery, but it is gorgeous. I can now get up at 6am, and not have to even think about charging my phone until 5pm, and it still has 40% plus left. ![]() Usually bluetooth streaming pandora and minimal light gaming/redditing. I used to get about 4-5 hours between charges on a good day. My last phone, a Moto Droid Turbo 2, had a 3760mAh battery and I was a little concerned with the larger screen that battery life was going to be worse. I like listen to podcasts and pandora while showering, so the IP68 rating on water proofing is truly reassuring. The fact that it has an SD card slot is great, but with 64gb built in memory, I'm not sure i'll need it. I was one of the fortunate ones that didn't get a faulty screen, so I don't have that gripe. I don't always want headphones, or to hook it up to a bluetooth speaker. ![]() I still don't understand why more phone makers aren't doing to stereo thing. It's decently loud and has ok clarity, but could use a little more power. I'm not a huge fan of the bottom facing speaker. My only real complaint, is speaker placement. I also love the fact that I didn't have to buy another set of headphones. The quad dac really does sound great with decent headphones. I can use it one handed quite easily, rarely have I had any issues. I was a little concerned about a 6" screen in my hands, but it really fits perfectly. I love the wireless charging, the camera is beautiful, most of all, it fits my not so large hands perfectly. I did a crap ton of comparisons between the v30 and Pixel 2 XL, and am so glad I went with the v30. ![]()
